From In Person to Online
COVID-19 took everyone by storm. Without warning, the educational world needed to transfer in-person materials into online lessons all while learning how to teach in this new environment. Below is an example of a professional development I crafted and then modified with the use of Adobe Captivate to embrace online learning.Â
For confidentiality, a few modifications were made.
In Person Materials
Below are three resources used to deliver a training on childhood trauma and its affects on the classroom. There is the presentation slides which are used during the training. A few slides have been removed due to confidentiality. Next, there are the facilitators guide which outlines the discussion questions and collaboration activities not listed on the PowerPoint Slide. Finally, there is the participant handout for the learners to write down notes and reflections.

I used Adobe Captivate to make this training because it provided real time check-ins for knowledge comprehension, stunning visuals, and voice overlay. While the original training focused heavily on participant-to-participant interactions, asynchronous trainings spotlight participant-to-knowledge interactions. Therefore, the discussion questions were no longer feasible in this setting and were altered to better fit the technology available.
